EBVF 2007 will focus on providing specialized assistance in three vital areas. Employment, Education, and VA benefits.
Employers and Employment representatives will provide onsite individualized employment assistance. Veterans will receive assistance in developing skills that will aid them in obtaining employment. Employment agencies will assist veterans in improving resume skills, interviewing skills, and relating military skills and experience to civilian employment.
A multilateral effort from the University of California, California State University, and California Community Colleges will provide educational counseling, financial aid assistance, and will assist in completing applications for veterans that are considering attending college.
A complete team of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs specialists will assist in accessing Healthcare, Disability Compensation, Readjustment Counseling, and Cemetery Benefits.
Other featured events will include.
Professionals specializing in Zen meditation, chaplain prayer groups, yoga, tai chi, and massage therapy will introduce methods of alternative healing for those readjusting to civilian life.
A blood drive “in honor and in recognition of our servicemembers” will be hosted by the American Red Cross.
Blue Star Moms will conduct a “Drop Zone” to collect various items for care packages to be sent to our troops overseas.
Veteran resource tables will be setup and displayed by various veteran service organizations. These tables will allow these organizations to provide information on their program to those who attend.
Vendor tables will display veteran and military related novelty items such as unit patches, pins, hats, and jackets. These items will be displayed and sold by local businesses.
